One can never say no to a good burger. During the week if one has a craving for something as devilish, juicy and full of flavour this easy beef burger recipe is one for you. Using simple, fresh, good quality ingredients always makes a good nutritious meal no matter what the craving may be. These patties are quick to put together with just a few fresh bits and pieces.
1 kg beef mince (mince topside)
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1 spring onion (finely sliced)
1 heaped tablespoon flat leaf parsley (chopped)
1/2 teaspoon sweet chilli sauce or chilli flakes
1 egg (beaten)
salt & freshly ground black pepper
olive oil for cooking
10 burger buns (dinner size rolls)
baby cos lettuce
Preparation Time: 20 minutes (approximately)
Cooking Time: 15 minutes (approximately)
Makes: 10 medium size burgers (approximately)
Serves: 4-5 people (approximately)
In a large bowl add the mince, Dijon mustard, spring onions, parsley, sweet chilli or chilli flakes, egg, salt and pepper. Combine all the ingredients and mix well however, do not over work the mixture as it will toughen the cooked burger. Shape into 10 patties place on a plate or tray and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and arrange the patties. Cook over medium heat for approximately 4 minutes on one side before turning over. Cook the other side for 2-3 minutes, remove from the heat and allow to rest for 2 minutes before serving.

Mince Topside is the most suitable meat for burgers. It has the right amount of fat to ensure the patty remains juicy and tender after cooking. If the meat is too fatty, the fat will all be in the pan and the burger will dry out during the cooking process.
These burgers were approximately 9 cm by 1.5 cm thick.
If you prefer to have your patties a little rare in the middle, reduce the cooking time however, still allow the burger to rest once cooked.
You may choose to serve your burger with other delights such as mustard, tomato relish, tomato sauce, melted cheese, sliced onions, fresh tomato and the list goes on. All that matters is that you have your favourites to accompany your juicy burger.
