During my recent journey travelling through India and Sri Lanka I experienced difficulties uploading and posting on my site. As traveller’s we were moving around and visiting many towns and I experienced power failures a number of times in one day and no internet. We are so dependent on technology today and rather than get frustrated, I decided to leave the writing and posting until I returned home. I have been absent from posting and sharing recipes for quite a while. I needed to organise a great deal at home and with work before embarking on this trip.
Now that I am home again I thought that I would share a few photos from my journey. Both these countries have impacted on me immensely in different ways. I met many wonderful people, ate wonderful local dishes and of course did a number of cooking classes to fulfil some of my personal goals. For me the classes were an important part of this trip.
I have gained further knowledge, picked up many new skills and tips on how to use the different types and varieties of spices in Indian and Sri Lankan cooking. These techniques and skills shared with me by the local chef’s and cook’s are extremely valuable. As a traveller and foodie I am constantly learning, discovering and exploring new things.
Loving all things food related, I thoroughly embraced what each country had to offer. The markets are always a highlight for me. The fresh vegetables, fruit, fish, meat and a selection of spices. I walk around and watch the locals selecting their ingredients for their meal. I find this very exciting and inspiring.
In the near future I will be sharing some of the recipes I was taught to prepare in the cooking classes. For the lovers of Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine some will be simple, easy to prepare and others a little more labour intensive. The dishes will always be tasty and delicious.
I hope that you enjoyed the photos taken through these two beautiful, unique and diverse countries.
