For so many of us it can be a burden when it comes to Christmas as to what to give to family, friends, neighbours, teachers and the list goes on. I enjoy making something rather than buying from the shop/stores. These items do not have to be expensive to put together however, they can be enjoyed especially if you can eat them. Yum!!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
This year, as in previous years, I have decided to make a few things and send them out as gifts.
1/4 cup of Cashews (ground or crushed)
1 cup of firmly packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground Cardamon
2 teaspoons ground Cinnamon
3 small 100g jars
Preparation time 10-15 minutes
Makes 3 x 100 gram jars
Cook’s Tips
Feel free to use other nuts, such as pistachio, peanuts, walnuts, hazelnuts, macadamias, almonds. We all have a favourite that we enjoy eating.
You can sprinkle the spiced sugar on your porridge, yogurt, pancakes, french toast and anything else you may think of.
Spiced Sugar stores well in a sealed jar in your pantry.
1.5 Litres of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (First Cold Pressed)
6 Small Glass Bottles (250ml)
Small Bunch of Thyme
Small Bunch of Lemon Thyme
Preparation Time 10-15 minutes
Makes 6 Small x 250ml Bottles
Wash and pat dry Thyme sprigs. Place inside the bottles and pour in the Olive Oil. Seal the bottle and allow to infuse for a few weeks.
After a few weeks the oil will have a wonderful Thyme flavour which can be used in many dishes such as salads, with pasta, bruschetta, or anything that you would like to drizzle the oil on. 🙂 🙂 🙂
Cook’s Tips
For the above recipe I used two varieties of Thyme. The normal Thyme and Lemon Thyme. In 3 bottles I placed the normal Thyme and in the other 3 the Lemon Thyme.
Enjoy!
