These are easy treats to make and require no cooking.
1 Cup of Almond Meal
1 Cup of Pitted Dates
4 Pitted Prunes
1 Tablespoon of Sesame Seeds
2 Tablespoons of Cocoa Powder
1 Teaspoon of Cinnamon
1/3 Cup of freshly squeezed orange juice
1/3 Teaspoon of orange zest
2/3 Cup of Dessicated Coconut
Preparation time: 15-20 minutes
Makes: 16 balls
Place all dry ingredients in the food processor to combine well. Add the orange juice and zest and continue to process for a further 1-2 minutes. The mixture should resemble a paste.
With wet hands take a small amount of the mixture and roll it between your palms into a ball shape. Repeat this process until you have made all the balls.
Coat each ball with dessicated coconut. Place in an airtight container and refrigerate.
Cook’s Tips
These are a great treat when I want to have something sweet with a cup of tea or coffee. You will notice that they are not super sweet as I have not added any extra sugar. The sweetness is there from the dates and prunes. If you prefer them a little sweeter, feel free to add a little sugar.
Enjoy!

Thank you for a delicious recipe again Milanka! 😉 It seems very simple to make, but pitted dates are expensive to buy and not very easy to find in HK. Is there anything I can use to substitute for the pitted dates? 🙂
What type of dry fruit is easy to find and reasonably priced in Hong Kong? Let me know and I will make a few suggestions.. 🙂
Dried prunes and apricots are easier to find and relatively cheaper compared to pitted dates in Hong Kong 🙂
Use apricots and prunes. It will work. The flavour will still be lovely.
